AMR's Online Crop Challenges

September's crop was full of challenges, nine in total!! I started working on them last night after the crop was over, as I wasn't able to actually attend the crop. I finished them up tonight, around 11pm. But bear with me, as I don't have a huge selection of embellishments, other than flowers, buttons, and skittles.

Challenge 1, by jamie/jfrank...

Scrap a page about what you love about fall. I love the leaves changing colors, particularly when they turn red! I took these photos last year in tigardlilly's yard, and haven't found the right use for them, until yesterday! I used Crate Paper Crush Collection, it was perfect color wise! There isn't much to this layout, I matted the photos, used the same paper to free hand cut the letters, write the journaling, and stamp the leaves which I then cut out. I used stamps from Target's Dollar spot.

Challenge 2, by Q...

In celebration of football season, we were supposed to do a layout or card using your favorite team/school's colors and an oval to represent a football in the abstract sense. Not having a favorite of my own, I went with the Minnesota Vikings since it is my husbands favorite team. I went online, got a logo, printed it out on 8.5x11 paper, in black and white, it was a tiny picture, so it was VERY pixelated. I did my best cutting out the different elements of the logo, traced onto Bazzill card stock, cut out and assembled it. Not too bad if you ask me! The only font I could find as far as the Vikings go was the older version, it works out though, I just printed it on cs since my Silhouette blade is dull and can't cut anymore. I freehand cut the oval and used Jenni Bowlin rubons for the journaling.

Use a photo that is imperfect. The only photos I have of my brother's wedding are at such a low resolution, when I had them printed, they are very pixelated, though you can't tell in this photo, but trust me, it is of terrible quality. I found this older Making Memories paper which had the perfect colors for the photo, some Bazzill scraps, some Prima (I think) flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls for the center, I used my Crafter's Workshop template for the swirls, American Crafts Thickers which I Stickled with my new Glitz Stickles, I Stickled the swirls too, and a Teresa Collins journaling tag.

Use the same photo more than once on your layout. I chose this photo of my nephew. I used Bazzill card stock, KI Memories pp, Making Memories Noteworthy, American Crafts Thickers, inked Grungeboard with rhinestones.

Challenge 5, by Chris/Chrispea...

Use at least 5 circles, and the photos must be circles...NO SQUARES! You would be surprise how many people missed that rule (insert rolling eyes here). I already had these firework pictures cut in a circle (don't ask me why), so I decided to use them. I used some Reminisce paper scraps I had and cut more circles. I tried to keep the circle theme with the American Crafts Thickers as the title, the oval sub-title on DCWV glitter cs and stamped with Target Dollar Spot stamps, then used Me and My Big Ideas rhinestone stars, all on top of Bazzill cs. I don't really like it, but that is why I don't normally use circles on my layouts, lol!

Challenge 6, by Debbie/Wyscrapper...

Create a school layout using primary colors and lined paper, again, some people didn't follow the rules, they didn't even do school themed! I used Scenic Route printed paper, some cheap-o card stock scraps, Prima flowers, misc felt flowers, misc brads for the centers, Walmart chipboard letters, misc buttons, Technique Tuesday stamps which I colored in with Marvy Artist Pens. Not a fan of this layout either, but then again, I don't usually use this color scheme.
Challenge 7, by Debbie/Wyscrapper...

Use 4 photos, easy right? HA! I got this 1 page kit free at my LSS, but couldn't use thier example with 4 photos, plus it wouldn't be my own if I did, so I came up with my own layout, using all the supplies-what you see is what I got! I used Bazzill cs, American Crafts paper, mostly Bazzill ribbon-the red ribbon is unknown, American Crafts buttons (I think), and Jenni Bowlin rubons for the title.

Challenge 8, by Heather...

Find a piece of pp with a large pattern and cut it out. What paper line has THE BIGGEST patterns? Tinkering Ink! I used the Al Fresco line, cut out the flower, used the other half of the paper-the back side, Prima flowers, pink rhinestones for the center, Walmart chipboard letters, and journaled around the flower stem.

Challenge 9, by Heather...
Scrap a fear, dig deep with journaling, NO cardstock, and use something textural. I used my new Around The Block paper, Bazzill chipboard letters, some Prima flowers with misc buttons for centers, and a load of journaling-and I only made one mistake! Have I ever mentioned I HATE journaling? My handwriting is terrible, and I especially hate journaling right on the page because I always mess up! It turned out OK. The pictures, on the other hand, aren't that great. I hadn't found the different settings on my camera, and these were all taken in the shade, with the sun shining bright on the bushes in the background, I did the best I could with my simple photo editing software that came with my printer.

That is all for now! Tomorrow, after I do some job searching and the reluctant food stamp application, I am back to regular challenges. I will also be posting my DT layout for this week. Which reminds me, I gotta come up with a challenge for this month, and can't think of anything challenging. Do you have a technique or application that you are scared to try, that you would like to be challenged on? Any ideas are welcome!!
